Training

CARES does not advocate the forceful “pack alpha” mentality training. All trainers we recommend use positive reinforcement to get the best results from their pets.

There are a multitude of online resources for information about positive, force-free training and dealing with behavior problems with your dogs.

Pet Insurance

To help with the cost of vet bills, many owners are taking advantage of pet insurance. It differs from traditional human insurance where you pay the bill, then you are reimbursed a portion of that amount, based on your deductible and the type of procedures you are covered for.

Moving with Pets

The experts at Goodcall recently published a resource guide that includes the state importation regulations for the most common household pets. They created a state-by-state interactive map that allows pet owners to easily view the specific veterinary health certificates, permits and vaccinations that are required to move their pet to a new state. Failing to meet these requirements could result in a fine or other penalties, and could potentially put one's pet at risk when travelling or moving to a new state.
